Many moons ago, as a child, I had a Brownie box camera – I don’t remember where it came from, but I do remember its feel in the hand and the satisfying click of the shutter. I still have a photograph I took with it when I was about 10 years old – a picture of the Bowder Stone in Borrowdale with the tiny figure of my sister perched on top. Thus began two lifelong preoccupations – a love of photographic images and a strong connection to the Lake District.

I’ve always taken photographs - recording my travels, my children’s early lives, my mountains, my memorable moments – and have loved seeing the work of great photographers. But my working life has had little to do with visual imagery and it’s only recently that I’ve been able to return to my early hobby and allow it to grow into something that could be called ‘photography’.  Connecting this with my love of mountains, fells and dales has been a natural development, leading me to landscape photography as the genre I love the most. I was pleased and proud to achieve the award of LRPS in November 2021 and I continue to learn, with grateful thanks to those who help me on this journey.

Living between the Lakes and the Dales is a constant joy; here the lie of the land invites me on a daily journey of discovery to "find the feeling of infinity on the horizon line or just over the next hill" (Georgia O’Keeffe).
